Rights Respecting School Award
Since Autumn 2011, St Mary Magdalene & St Stephen's school has been committed to becoming a Rights Respecting School. This means that the school recognises the inalienable Rights of the Child, as described in the United Nations Charter on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
In November, 2012, we received a Recognition of Commitment from UNICEF, the organisation responsible for the assessment of schools’ implementation of the Charter. After lots of hard work from our Rights Respecting Steering Group – and all the school community – we finally achieved Gold UNICEF UK Rights Respecting School status.
Meanwhile, we continue to work ceaselessly to ensure that children are educated as to their Rights, and to enable them to access all their rights fully whilst at school.
If you want to know more about our work towards achieving a Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA), please talk to Mrs Weekes or Miss Curran at any time – or ask your children!
